It is important to know what you want. Because when you know where your journey shall take you, you can always look back and if necessary correct your way.

What I want
You can gent your motivation many different ways. I personally get mine from improvements, getting a boost from a friend and from my goals. To keep my goals always on my mind, I hung up some pics of strong men behind my pull-up-bar. You might know only a few, but I think you should know every one of them!
It hangs on the wall behind my pull-up-bar, this way I am able to look at it during my training and recall my goals willful or unconscious.
As you can see, there are many different kinds of people and bodytypes on the pic. A goal can not always be lined out exactly, but you can reduce it to something – that is what I have done. I took pics and people that represent strength, estetics, staying power and strength of mind.
Try to set up your own motivational poster. You do not have to print it out an hang it up, but it is always good to keep your goals in your mind and recall them from time to time. You can also write down your goals for the year and tick it off as you reach them, that is what I did in the past. But I went to planing bigger, so I do not want to limit myself by reps or weights.
